How I Generated 608 RSS Subscribers For My 2 Weeks Old Tech Blog With No Paid Promotion

By SEO Advisor | July 3, 2010

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As an affiliate marketer for 1 year, I was always interested in getting myself to blog but I didn’t know which niche I should be in. After 3 months later which is June, I finally got inspired and decided to create a technologies blog for all tech, gizmo and gadgets fans out there. During the creation process of the blog, I found that competing with top blogs like Engadget, Gizmodo and Tech Crunch is not easy at all so I might need to get more traffic from social media.

Being an affiliate marketer taught me that if you can’t generate traffic through search engines and pay per click advertising, use Social Media! Social Media is a rising star for traffic generation and the power of it should not be overlooked because by implementing it correctly, you will get a SUPER boost of traffic to your blog.

My Analytics Showing Most of My Traffic Are Referred

To be frank, getting traffic from Social Media sites is never an easy job and it can be tiring especially to get an avalanche of traffic to a boring and uninteresting post. After just 18 posts on my blog, I was able to generate 608 subscribers to my RSS feed and it is quite a amazing number for a new blog. Talking is easy but I am going to show you how.

Make Friends Online

Making friends online is as difficult or sometimes as easy as making pals in the real solid world. Successful business owners will tell you that networking is very important and being sociable will beat your competitors who are unsociable and likes to sulk. The first step to get traffic from social media sites is to make friends on Digg, Stumble Upon, Reddit and of course Facebook. You might tell me, oh it’s big deal making friends but hell wait, “Friends are more likely to read your blog than strangers”! You can’t expect a stranger who doesn’t know you to visit your new blog because they might think that the blog is a virus-infected site and they just can’t be bothered to read a blog. Making friends with them will give them a very superb reason to visit your blog-”To Know You More”!

Create A Superbly Amazing Headline

Let me ask you a simple question, if you were to choose from two blogs which you can only read one, which will you choose? “The Big Scandal of Successful Online Marketers – How They Get Fame and Fortune!” or “5 Reasons Why Online Marketers are Successful”? I’ll bet that the first one will be of utmost interest to your friends and they will visit it because who in the world will want to visit a friend’s blog if the content sucks. Frankly, I don’t! Let say if you are going to blog about how to bypass blocked sites with a proxy or virtual private network, you don’t craft a post title that says, “How To Access Blocked Websites” but “Are Pornography Websites Really Blockable?”. Which title will zap your focus to it immediately? I bet it will be the second one.

Put A Big, When I Mean Big, It’s A Big RSS Subscribe Button!

When you want people to subscribe to your RSS feed. Tell them! You see, when Obama wants people to vote for him, he campaign for it and so do you. Present your intention clearly so that your friends and visitors or even new readers understand that you want them to subscribe to your RSS. Let me share with you something, your theme’s default RSS button is always not enough because they’re small and slash off in a secluded corner.

Create A Facebook Fan Page or Group

Facebook group is a particular favourite of mine. I create a Facebook group for my Shastera Technologies Blog early when my blog became online and I can say I got loads of traffic from it. Every time, I publish a new post, I will post it to my Group wall so that my members and 700 friends can see it. Besides, I also do send a message to all members to the new post and normally the CTR is awesomely great.

Take Action!

It’s enough for me as if you don’t take action, nothing will work even if I tell you everything from the morning to the night. So do remember to take action and reap your rewards!
